Inbound

What does inbound sorting mean? In short, this is your flow of -incoming goods-, from both suppliers and the returns (retail and e-commerce). An automated process, in which items are scanned and then sorted according to predetermined criteria.

Incoming goods

Inbound sorting means sorting goods that come in from manufacturers, suppliers and/or returns. The purchase orders can be linked to the sorter.  Everything that comes in, is counted and registered. This means the correct quantities and in the case of clothing, for example, also the correct sizes, colours, models, designs, etc. This makes it easy to determine whether everything that was ordered has actually been delivered. Return goods can be sorted according to the same criteria.

For goods that come from a supplier, it is important to know whether the agreed goods have actually been delivered (and on time). The sorting solutions that DistriSort offers are multifunctional and can sort inbound, outbound and returns on the same machine.

Always up-to-date

Even before the items are placed in a warehouse, you know exactly what you have in stock. And if certain things are not right in the delivery, you can also contact the supplier directly. This can be used to initiate subsequent deliveries. Any production errors can be automatically filtered out, which will save you from returns and disappointed customers later on. Incidentally, returns can also be sorted inbound in the same way. Sorting into orders (outbound) is done via the same sorter and the same existing WMS, so inventory management is always up-to-date.

Returned goods

In addition, there is the return flow. These can be goods that are returned from stores, or items that were purchased via e-commerce and then returned. Both flows can be registered and processed based on their barcode. Either back in stock or directly back in sales via cross-docking.Also, a VAS location may be added.
